It depends on your nationality — and good news: China now offers visa-free entry for up to 30 days to citizens of 47 countries for tourism, business, visiting friends and family, or cultural travel (like your wedding).

This includes travelers from:

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Luxembourg, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Malaysia, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Liechtenstein, Monaco, and Andorra.

If your country is not on this list, you may still be able to enter visa-free for up to 240 hours (10 days) if transiting through select Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and more. This applies to travelers from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, Indonesia, UAE, Mexico, and others.

We recommend flying into Lijiang Sanyi Airport (LJG). It’s well-connected to major cities in China, and travel from there to the wedding site is scenic and straightforward.

Plan to stay in Lijiang the night before your ceremony — the city offers a wide range of accommodations, from boutique guesthouses to luxury hotels, all bookable via platforms like Booking.com.

3. How many days should I plan to stay in China?

We recommend arriving at least one day before the wedding to adjust to the altitude and prepare. We’ll provide all transportation on the wedding day. After the ceremony, we suggest staying two additional days in the area — not only to enjoy the scenery, but also to allow flexibility in case of unexpected weather (our wet weather backup). A 4–5 day trip works beautifully.

4. What's it like to spend money in China as a foreigner?

While most locals use mobile payment apps, cash and credit cards (Visa/MasterCard) are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas. We also offer optional Alipay or WeChat Pay setup assistance if you'd like to go fully digital during your stay. English menus and helpful staff are common in many places, especially around Lijiang and Shangri-La.

Currently, two foreign nationals cannot register a legal marriage in China. For this reason, we highly recommend that couples complete their legal marriage paperwork in their home country before traveling.

This is a mountain setting — and nature leads the rhythm. We monitor conditions closely, and if needed, we may adjust the schedule slightly or shift to our backup day.

Yes! You’re welcome to bring a small group of close friends or family. We’ll coordinate guest transport and help manage accommodation options for everyone.

9. Who performs the ceremony, and can it be personalised?

Your vows will be led by an English-speaking celebrant. The ceremony script is customisable to reflect your story, your energy, your love.
